Dr Michelle Ellis
Dr Michelle Ellis is currently researching the understanding of, and aspirations for Higher Education in the Computer and Security Sciences by female students in year 9 and 10. In conjunction with Professor Trish Williams, the research has identified that these girls had limited knowledge about the Computer and Security Sciences and with more information would consider a career in these fields.
I am looking at establishing the Girls Programming Network at Edith Cowan University. This will be supported by the National Computer Science Society. Each term, year 7 to 12 girls will be invited to attend a one day workshop on different aspects of computer science and security science.
Small Speaking events (Less than 50 attendees), Medium Speaking events (50-200)
I am interested in working with school groups and expanding their understanding of careers that are available to them in the computer and security sciences.
The perceptions (and misconceptions) that female Year 9 and 10 students have towards Computer and Security Sciences.
I would like to find a mentor.
